Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on cost, timelines, ownership, and process, drawn from our Insights articles and more than three decades of production work.
How much does video production cost?
Our standard rates are $2,800 per shoot day, covering a full crew and all gear, and $150 per hour for editing and post-production. At those rates, most short association and corporate films land between $5,000 and $15,000 all in, depending on shoot days and editing hours. Music licensing and captions are separate lines, quoted in the open.
How long does a video project take?
A standard production runs six to nine weeks from kickoff to delivery: one to two weeks of planning and scripting, the shoot itself, two to three weeks to a rough cut, one to two weeks of review and fine cut, and a few days for final delivery. Anniversary and gala films run eight to ten weeks, scheduled backward from the event date. The fast end, for a simple interview piece with a ready client, is three to four weeks.
Who owns the footage?
Ownership comes in three layers: the final videos, the project files, and the raw footage. Your agreement should state, in writing and before production starts, who owns each layer, what music and stock licenses are included, and who holds the signed talent releases. PMG spells out ownership terms in the agreement on every engagement. Get the same from any company you hire.
How many finished videos can one shoot day produce?
Planned well, one interview day can produce a primary film plus four to eight supporting pieces: cutdowns at sixty and thirty seconds, vertical versions, promos, and quote clips. The yield is decided in preproduction. If the deliverables list is written before the shoot, the interviews are structured to serve every piece on it.
Should we use AI video or hire a production company?
Use AI tools for drafting, quick internal pieces, and versioning. Hire a production company when the video represents your organization to people whose trust you need, when accuracy is reviewed and consequential, and when the work has to last. Regulated, clinical, and safety content needs real experts on camera and a producer who answers for the result.
How many revision rounds are included?
Two revision rounds are included on every PMG project. Additional rounds bill at the standard hourly rate, stated in writing before work starts. One named approver on your side keeps those rounds on schedule: committee edits are the most common cause of missed dates.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Occoquan, Virginia and work across the Washington, DC metro area and nationwide. For New Jersey productions we crew locally with New Jersey crews, so clients there are never billed for DC crew travel.
